ME

My journey has been shaped by resilience and adaptation. Born in Beijing, my childhood was marked by frequent relocations—moving between Beijing, Yunnan, and Shenzhen due to family changes. These early experiences taught me how to embrace change, observe diverse cultures, and navigate life’s uncertainties. Despite external turbulence, I faced significant personal challenges, including loss and difficult family dynamics. These experiences instilled in me the strength to persevere and find meaning, even in life’s darkest moments.

As I grew older, my curiosity expanded beyond the physical world. From a young age, I was captivated by technology. In elementary school, I began using computers, which led to an interest in computer components and games. By middle school, I was even attempting to bypass internet restrictions to access global information. These early encounters sparked a belief that technology has the power to enrich our cognition and productivity. I began to see it not just as a tool, but as a way to unlock new possibilities for learning and living. This perspective has profoundly shaped my design philosophy, where I aim to create spaces that are not only functional and human-centered but also integrate technology in ways that enhance both the individual experience and collective productivity.

During my high school years at an international school in Beijing, I explored new lifestyles and formed meaningful connections. A pivotal moment came when I visited Powell River, a quiet coastal town in Canada, marking a significant step toward independence. Later, as I transitioned to university in Canada, I faced a range of challenges—emotional highs and lows, academic setbacks, and even a life-threatening accident. These obstacles became catalysts for self-reflection, growth, and academic success, culminating in a major turnaround during my second year of university.

Grad school was a time of refinement and self-discovery. While pursuing my Master of Architecture at the University of Toronto, I sharpened my skills, particularly in urban design and sustainability. My role as a teaching assistant helped me develop strong communication and leadership abilities, while serving as a student marshal at graduation deepened my commitment to fostering meaningful connections.

My life story, shaped by trauma, resilience, and ongoing growth, has given me a unique perspective on navigating change and supporting others. I am driven by a deep passion to make a meaningful contribution to the built and natural environments, creating spaces that not only serve communities but also inspire hope and belonging.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to channel my personal experiences and professional expertise into work that bridges design, empathy, and technology—enhancing both the human experience and our productivity.
