Hush!
JAV130 | Visual Strategies | Collage

This work talks about the influence of government control of narratives. Especially in the context of Chinese Internet age. Such diversity represented by types of residences showed in the background leads to the introduction of censorship. Four metallic-painted girls from the 60s represent people who conduct this activity, which is also my basic idea for this collage. Reproduced “signs” from my photo taken in the street will be their objective, sensitive words. Other approaches will be erasing or altering the original meaning of these “narratives” on the top. It will be really hard for people to focus on everything on the Internet since the blast of information, whether good or bad. At the same time, we need to reconsider the role censorship is playing.
