Stage for Everyone
ARC480F | Re-Integrating Design
The current state of world has caused us to vision a living space that will never be quite the same. The spread of COVID-19 made us think about re-designing the shape of a post-COVID world; we cannot continue designing as if nothing had happened. The world is full of ‘unknowns’, and our understanding and experience about them will in-fluence architecture’s future. The rapid spread of COVID-19 opens our eyes towards complexities behind simplicity of our living environment. Inevitably, an increase understanding of ‘unknowns’ of the future will result a change in our dai-ly activities, and thus for which architects would have to explore new ideas and search for innovative solutions. While there are much more to learn about COVID-19, a few ideas have already emerged to examine flexibility, an ability to be adapted to different functions and requirements, where prevention of future pandemics is key.
This project considers the integration of complexity and flex-ibility in the design of a pavilion, Co-vision pavilion. It will be a gathering place for people to communicate, coop-erate and collaborate emphasizing the spirit of creation and innovation around what kind of future we want to build. The Co-vision pavilion could be temporary or permanent. It would host up to 50 people who will experience new relationships, enjoy exhibitions, performances, and a series of lectures while meeting public health practices.
